5 Home Renovation Projects Perfect For Spring

Spring is in the air!

Here are 5 home renovation projects to get you ready for spring.

For some areas of the country, it feels like winter is never-ending. But rest assured that spring is always right around the corner!

Spring is one of my favorite times of year. Flowers are blooming, bees are buzzing, and the air feels full of new life. It seems like anything is possible! It’s the perfect time of year to tackle some of the home renovation projects you’ve had on the back burner.

Here are five home renovation projects that are perfect to do in the spring.

1. Improve Your Curb Appeal

Unless you live in Hawaii, winter weather has probably done a number on your front yard. Now that the snow has melted and things are coming back to life, it’s time to spruce things up!

One thing that can really transform the look of your home is replacing your address numbers. Not only are they incredibly affordable (and an easy DIY project), house numbers are available in a wide variety of fonts and styles.

If you have a dedicated mailbox, consider replacing or even repainting it for a fresh new look.

If you’re in the mood for a more in-depth project, now is a good time to update your driveway. Swap out the cracked concrete for some sleek pavers. Bold, classic, or quirky, this will utterly transform your curb appeal!

At the very least, give your driveway and home exterior a good pressure wash to get rid of built-up dirt.

2. Revamp Your Porch

From snow and sleet to a long line of holiday guests, your porch has taken a beating. Take advantage of the warmer temperatures and give it a revamp!

Start by repairing any broken columns, slats, or floor boards. Give it a good pressure wash and fresh coat of paint or stain and it’ll look brand new!

And if that doesn’t quite scratch your home renovation itch, consider updating your porch railing to a new style, such as wrought iron or composite.

When you’re all done, reward yourself with a porch swing or rocking chair. It’s the perfect place to watch the world go by.

3. Plant a Garden

Nothing says “spring” like a garden!

Whether you prefer flowers, vegetables, or herbs, gardening is a gorgeous way to get some fresh air and improve your curb appeal. Not to mention all the fresh ingredients you’ll be able to cook with!

Raised garden beds are available at most home improvement stores and are great for keeping certain pests out of your crops. Add a drip irrigation system to make maintenance easier and get ready to enjoy your harvest!

Out of all the home renovation projects you could do, this is one that keeps on giving!

4. Build an Outdoor Kitchen

After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, cooking indoors can start to feel like a chore. Take things outside with a new outdoor kitchen!

You can keep things simple and just update your grill or go all-out with a built-in pizza oven and beverage fridge. The options are endless!

Start it now and you’ll be ready just in time for summer.

5. Crown the Living Room

No matter the season, you probably spend the majority of your time in the living room, so don’t leave it out of your home renovation projects!

Installing crown molding is easy enough to do yourself, fairly inexpensive, and gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Plus, there are a ton of styles and silhouettes available.

Add some coordinating baseboards and/or wainscoting and you’ll be looking at a whole new room.

Conclusion

Home improvement plays a huge role in many of my books, so it should come as no surprise to hear that I love learning about ways to upgrade my space and make it a more enjoyable place to live.

Once your home renovation projects are complete, don’t forget to take some time for yourself. Sit out on that fancy new porch with a glass of lemonade. Invite some friends over for a backyard BBQ.

Or, if you’re anything like me, take a break from the hard work with a good book!

Many of my book series feature homes (and renovation) as a central theme. Add in some sweet romance and a dash of mystery, and you have the perfect combination for a warm spring day!
